Marilyn E. ‘Mickey’ Parker

Mrs. Marilyn E. “Mickey” Parker, 89, of Mayfield, passed away January 3, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville. She was born February 23, 1924, in Gloversville, daughter of the late David and Alice Cramer Baird. Mrs. Parker was educated in local schools and employed most of her life as a glove worker. During her career, she had sewn gloves at various area glove shops including the former Wells-Lamont, Dixon Gloves, Grandoe and retired from Ellithorpe Tanning. Mickey enjoyed a wonderful spirit of friendship and was quick to share with family and friends. Devoted to her entire family, she especially cared lovingly for her husband prior to his death.

Mickey was an excellent cook, and especially enjoyed baking. She loved golf and was a former member of the Sacandaga Golf Course. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Cheryl Callis (Jerome) of Crossville, TN, and Janis Inglis of Mayfield. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Corey Miller, Jennifer Wise, Joan Libby, John Perry and Thomas Perry. Mickey leaves three great-grandchildren also, Emily Miller, Alexis Wise and Madeline Peterson, as well as nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Alwinnie Parker, whom she had married July 4, 1955; a sister, Olive Hathaway; a brother, Donald Baird; and stepchildren.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, in the great room at Mountain Valley Hospice House, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. There will be no calling hours. Spring burial will be in Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield.
