Mayfield eyes new zoning

MAYFIELD-Mayfield may soon look for people to serve on a new zoning commission, according to town Supervisor Richard Argotsinger.

During the recent organizational meeting, Argotsinger said the town would need to put together a new zoning commission to implement zoning changes that were in the town’s new comprehensive plan, which was approved in July.

Argotsinger said the commission has not been formed yet, but it is needed.

According to Argotsinger, he does not know how many board members will be needed.

“I would say six to eight,” Argotsinger said

Argotsinger suggested the commission not use previous members of the comprehensive plan committee.

“That was only my suggestion,” Argotsinger said. “Doesn’t mean the board is going to do that.”

In other action from the organizational meeting:

The salaries for the elected officials were set, with no raises compared to last year’s salaries. The supervisor’s salary is roughly $16,500; town clerk, $23,000; board members, $3,000; town justice, $13,000 each; and superintendent of highway’s, $39,000.

Town Board meetings are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of the month.
