FFCS boys third, girls fourth at meet

SCHENECTADY – The Fonda-Fultonville boys tied for third and the girls placed fourth at the TCITL indoor track meet Saturday at Union College.

The Braves finished in a dead-heat with Schenectady with 81 points in the meet that was won by Niskayuna with 98 points, while Columbia placed second with 84.

The Lady Braves scored 47 points and finished behind Columbia (185), Niskayuna (102) and Averill Park (48).

Amsterdam placed seventh in the girls team standings with 8 points, while the boys placed ninth with 1.

Picking up individual victories in the meet for Fonda-Fultonville were Rebekah Hentnik, Dalton Hunter, Dylan DeSorbo and Ryan Park.

Hentnik placed first in the girls pole vault clearing the bar a 8-06.

Hunter hit the line first in the 600-meter run with a time of 134.4, while DeSorbo won the 3,200-meter run with his time of 11:29.3.

Park topped the field in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 13-0 and teammate Ben Vardai-Davidson completed a one-two finish for the Braves in the event, finishing second at 10-0.

Also turning in individual point-scoring performances for the Braves were Bryan Finn and Anthony Brand in the shot put. Finn placed fourth with a throw of 36-06 and Brand was sixth at 33-11.

Hunter was third in the triple jump with a 38-03 and Zach Nizet was runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 19-07. Christian VanAvery placed third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.4 and Cody Fancher was sixth in the 3,200 metes in 12:18.5.

DeSorbo added a sixth placed finish in the 1,600 meters to his his 3,200 meter win with a time of 5:09.9 and Dan Westman placed fourth in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:37.1.

Lindsey Therrien placed second in the girls long jump with a leap of 14-02.5 and third in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.1.

Kim Geniti was runner-up in the 3,000-meter run in 12:14.1, while Skyler Hesch was fifth in the girls 300 meters in 49.0 and Emma Rhodes was sixth in the high jump clearing the bar at 4-0.

For Amsterdam, Amber Richardson placed second in the shot put with a toss of 27-10.0.
