City sets pay

GLOVERSVILLE – The mayor and Common Council made appointments and set wages for various positions at the city’s organizational meeting Wednesday.

The city reappointed Finance Commissioner Bruce Van Genderen to another term, which will expire Dec. 31, 2017.

Van Genderen’s yearly salary will be $71,052.

Deputy Commissioner of Finance Theresa Butkevitch was appointed for another year and will be paid $42,500.

Department of Public Works Director Kevin Jones was reappointed for another year. His annual salary is $67,650, according to meeting documents.

City Clerk Susan Semione and Deputy City Clerk Cindy Ostrander were reappointed by the council. Their terms run from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.

Semione’s yearly salary was set at $32,640, while Ostrander will earn a salary of $28,560.

City Attorney Anthony Casale was reappointed and will earn $63,529 this year.

Those appointed to other positions include city Planning Board Chairman Jim Anderson and Vice Chairman Geoffrey Peck, and James Morrison as the city historian.

Some of the 2014 wages set for department heads and other positions are as follows: Assessor Joni Dennie, $46,420; council members, $3,500; Councilman-At-Large James Robinson, $4,375; Fire Chief Beth Whitman-Putnam, $85,000; Mayor Dayton King, $41,034; and Police Chief Donald VanDeusen, $91,155.
