Johnstown skiers turn in strong runs at Holiday Race

CAROGA LAKE – The Johnstown alpine ski team turned in strong performances Monday at the Johnstown Holiday Race at the Royal Mountain Ski Center

Sara Kosowicz turned in a pair of third place runs in the Slalom event. Kosowicz recorded a time of 47.43 in her first run through the course and a 47.47 on her second run.

Serena Smith was ninth with a time of 59.44 on her first run and 13th in the second run in 1:01.58.

Reily Kotwasinki turned in times of 59.64 and 1:02.75, good for 10th and 15th, while Whitney Western was 14th and 19th with her runs of 1:03.42 and 1:10.06.

Payton Sardella turned in times of 1:53.59 and 1:20.97 in her two runs, while Chloe Salisbury posted times of 1:35.74 and 1:39.30 and Emily Havlicek had a time of 1:10.00 in the first run.

Lukas Levin turned in the fastest time of the day for the Sir Bills with 50.85 in his second run.

Sam Bobette recorded 14th and 10th place finishes with times of 54.52 and 53.43.

Zack Simone clocked a 1:01.33 and 1:06.56 for finishes of 16th and 19th respectively.

Austin Stergas placed 21st in the first slalom with a time of 1:05.54 and 17th in the second run with a time of 1:04.28.

Zack Szurek placed 15th in the second run with a time of 1:01.20 and Jon Bearden was 26th in the second run with his time of 1:11.1.

The Johnstown skiers will return to competition on Jan. 8 at the Queensbury Invitational at West Mountain.
