Julius to be sworn in as mayor Jan. 1
JOHNSTOWN – Democrat Michael Julius will be sworn in as the city’s new mayor at the Common Council’s organizational meeting at noon on Wednesday at City Hall.
Also sworn in at the Council Chambers session will be: new Councilman-at-Large Christopher Swatt, new council members Kathi Iannotti and Edwin Queeney, and City Treasurer Michael Gifford.
Julius, who replaces retiring Mayor Sarah Slingerland, will deliver the annual “State of the City” address.
He is expected to appoint a deputy city engineer and deputy clerk.
The council is also slated to consider eight resolutions, including appointments and designation of official newspaper, banks and polling places.
