Teen charged with assaulting father

GLOVERSVILLE – A city teenager was arrested over the weekend after he assaulted his father during a family offense with a coffee table and ceramic statue, police said.

Corey E. McCann, 17, of 25 Grand St., was arrested Sunday and charged with second-degree assault, a class D felony.

Police said he was charged after striking his father with a coffee table and a ceramic statue.

Capt. John Sira said McCann brought his girlfriend to the residence without permission, which resulted in the scuffle between the father and son.

He said McCann’s father was knocked to the ground, at which point McCann proceeded to hit the father with the coffee table and ceramic statue.

He said McCann’s father was treated by EMS and taken to the hospital for superficial injuries caused by the fight.

McCann was arraigned in city court and sent to the Fulton County Jail.
