Man arrested for ATM withdrawals

GLOVERSVILLE – State police said a city man was arrested after he made ATM withdrawals from another person’s account.

Gary Bernard, 40, of Gloversville was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and petit larceny.

Police said troopers received a complaint from a man Nov. 24 about fraudulent transactions from his bank account.

According to police, the man said he loaned his car – with his checkbook and personal identification number for the account in the glove compartment – to Bernard from Oct. 24-31.

Police said a list of account transactions showed three separate ATM withdrawals that the account’s owner did not make, totaling $460.

Photographs from a bank led to Bernard being identified as the man at the ATM, police said.

Bernard was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court.
