Two city women charged with assault

AMSTERDAM – Two city women were arrested Thursday after they allegedly assaulted two male victims during a domestic dispute with a kitchen knife and hammer on Glen Avenue, city police said.

Jody Dove, 47, and Christiana Owens, 21, both of of 36 Glen Ave., were charged with second-degree assault, a felony. Dove was additionally charged with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

Just after midnight on Thursday, police responded to St. Mary’s Hospital for a report of a male victim with a stab wound. During the interview it was discovered that a domestic dispute occurred at a residence on Glen Avenue and he was injured while trying to intervene.

Authorities said officers and detectives learned that a second male victim was stabbed in the leg multiple times with a kitchen knife, during a domestic dispute with Dove, his girlfriend.

During the investigation, police said, the second male victim stated he was struck in the head with a hammer by his girlfriend’s daughter, Owens. Both male victims were treated for the stab wounds at St. Mary’s Hospital and their injuries do not appear to be life threatening, police said.

Both women were arraigned in Amsterdam City Court and sent to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
