Sea Dragons’ roster depth too much for FoJo

JOHNSTOWN – Fonda-Johnstown won seven of 12 events, but Gloversville used its depth to post a 107-74 win over Fonda-Johnstown in a Foothills Council boys swim meet Wednesday.

Shon Lewis-Matthews won the 50-yard freestyle for the Sea Dragons, while Austin Flynn picked up the win in the 1-meter diving competition.

Matthew Smrtic (100 breaststroke) and Anthony Oathout (100 freestyle) also posted wins for Gloversville.

The Sea Dragons also won the 200 freestyle relay as the team of Lewis-Matthews, Matt Helou, Reid Persch and Chris Town posted a time of 1:46.63.

Gloversville posted a total of 17 second- and third-place finishes to help secure the win.

Tyler Askew (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly) and Trevor Askew (200 individual medley, 100 backstroke) each won two events for Fonda-Johnstown.

Chris Dunbar added a win in the 500 freestyle for Fonda-Johnstown, which also won the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays.
