David Langdon, 57, of Egelston Rd., Fultonville, NY, passed way Tuesday morning, December 17, 2013, at his home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Gloversville, NY on February 28, 1956, a son of Robert W. and Marjorie Gillis Langdon. He was a lifelong area resident and was a 1974 graduate of Fonda-Fultonville Central School.
David was employed for over 39 years by Price Chopper. He worked in many capacities and locations throughout New York state and last held the store manager position in Palatine Bridge N.Y. until retiring in May of this year. He enjoyed mentoring and managing his employees. He also participated in his community. He was a charter member of the Fonda Lions Club. He served as a Fonda-Fultonville Central School Board member and participated in Fonda-Fultonville School sport booster club.
He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and hunting, especially with a bow. He was certified as a NYS Bowhunter Safety Course trainer and taught several classes. David also enjoyed woodworking and taxidermy, traveling with his wife, and above all spending time with his family. Family was Dave’s top priority. Family to Dave wasn’t just those related by blood, family included everyone he cared about, his blood-relatives and his friends. He always was there when he was needed and was often a pillar of stability for those of us that needed support. He was selfless and kind but he also told you what you needed to hear even if you didn’t want to hear it. He was an excellent father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
David married Nancy Egelston Langdon on August 28, 1976. In addition to his loving wife Nancy of Fultonville, NY, survivors include his father, Robert W. Langdon of Johnstown, NY; two sons, Nathaniel (Heidi) Langdon of Elgin, TX and Jeremy Langdon of Fultonville, NY; one daughter, Tracie (Brian) Novak of Tribes Hill, NY; a cherished granddaughter, Josie Novak of Tribes Hill, NY; two brothers, Robert (Nancy) Langdon and James (Nancy Gray) Langdon; four sisters, Linda (Albert) Galpin, Kathie (Clayton) Carpenter, Carol Langdon and Joyce (Bill) Dayton. Many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends also survive.
The family will receive relatives and friends at their home on 206 Egelston Rd., Wednesday, December 18, 2013, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty Foundation or to the Fonda Lions Club.
