Fulton County approves contracts for 2014 funding

JOHNSTOWN – The Fulton County Board of Supervisors last week approved contracts between the county Youth Bureau and three independent contractors for 2014 youth programs.

The board approved numerous contracts at its last meeting of the year. Two were with Citizens in Community Service – a contract giving $5,600 for the agency’s community restitution, and a $5,900 contract for youth services.

The board also approved a $5,500 Youth Bureau contract with the Family Counseling Center to fund counseling services. A separate $7,000 contract was approved with the Johnstown Public Library, helping to fund the Summer Reading Program.

Funding from the bureau is earmarked to the agencies through state aid received by the county.

In other 2014 contracts:

The board authorized a $21,161 heating-ventilation-air conditioning contract for the county jail with Siemens Building Technology of Albany. Contracts for fire alarm testing and time clock maintenance through the county Highways and Facilities Department were not acted on because county Administrative Officer Jon Stead said they required clarification.

Supervisors authorized a $9,000 agreement between the Fulton County Veterans Service Agency and Montgomery County Veterans Service Agency which would pay for transportation services for 2014. The services involve Fulton County veterans transported to and from the Veterans Medical Center in Albany.

Several contracts were approved between the county Office for Aging and independent contractors. The largest was a $530,000 agreement with Kingsboro Catering meals.

The board authorized numerous contracts between the county Department of Social Services and independent vendors for 2014. They included: Lexington Employment Resources ($169,300 for employment), the Family Counseling Center ($73,761 for non-residential domestic violence services), Nathan Littauer Hospital ($47,381 for managed care) and the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department ($69,804 for a fraud investigator and $67,539 for DSS security).
