Chamber program set to promote local retail

We were so glad to see the extraordinary push to shop local – on a regional and national scale – through the efforts of Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30. People were out in droves – you could see it on the streets of our downtowns, the arterials and on our rural roads, and read about it on social media as people “checked in” at local shops, or posted photos about their local purchases. Our efforts to get people to shop locally are heightened at this time of year, but please also be mindful that all year long we urge you to keep thinking local about everything you do – eating, shopping, entertainment, and so much more.

By now, most of you are immersed in all the trappings of the holidays – shopping, baking, wrapping, decorating, etc. with Christmas a little more than a week away. Some of you are wracking your brains to think of the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Well, the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce has the answer for you in Chamber Checks.

We feel that this could be one of the most prosperous years for the Chamber Checks program, with over $100,000 worth of Chamber Checks already in circulation in our region. If you are interested in purchasing the perfect gift for an employee, co-worker, boss, family member or friend, think about Chamber Checks.

You can buy these gift checks at Patriot Federal Bank branches in Johnstown, Amsterdam and Canajoharie,, and at Ruby & Quiri in Johnstown,, and at both of our chamber offices – 2 N. Main St. in Gloversville and 1166 Riverfront Center in Amsterdam.
