McGinnis Club slates trip
GLOVERSVILLE – The annual holiday party of the Ida L McGinnis Club was held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Harold’s Restaurant. There were 55 members present.
Arla Fonda, president, called the meeting to order. Betty Gugenberger shared thoughts to remember during this holiday season and led in “The Lord’s Prayer.” The 50-50 drawing was called and the winners were Doris Dingman, Margie Flint, Jean Hall, Carol Hood, Mary Renda, Dorothy Roy and Irene Viola.
As all of the members entered, they were given a flashlight pen and a ticket to claim a grab bag gift if they brought a gift to exchange. Immediately following, the dinner was served. The restaurant tables were decorated by the decorating committee, headed by Elaine Boyd. There were centerpieces on each table and favors at each place setting. During dessert, the group was accompanied by the Betty Green Chorus singing holiday songs. A duet from their group sang “Oh Holy Night.” Before leaving each person chose a gift.
On Tuesday, the club will meet at Forest Hill Towers for the last meeting of the year. The November and December birthdays will be celebrated. The next trip to the Turning Stone Casino will be on Jan. 20 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day). For reservations, call Jeannie McDuffie at 725-8963.
