Fire damages home in Oppenheim

OPPENHEIM – A fire consumed one room and caused smoke damage to a County Highway 108 home on Monday.

According to Oppenheim Volunteer Fire Department Chief Scott DeNinno, the fire began early Monday morning. DeNinno said one person was at home when the fire began, but no injuries were reported.

DeNinno said Monday the cause of the fire is not known. He could not be reached for comment this morning.

According to DeNinno, the fire started in the northeast corner of the home.

A news release from the Red Cross said two adults were given assistance after the fire.

DeNinno said the home is still habitable.
