Library to host fundraising party

GLOVERSVILLE – The Gloversville Public Library will host a “thank you” celebration at 4 p.m. Wednesday to mark the end of the first phrase of its capital campaign.

Friends and Family Division Co-Chairmen David Heacock and Ellen Wood will announce the amount of funds raised toward a renovation project, a news release said.

The Butler Rowland Mays firm is studying the building to develop a plan to allow access to all levels, convert the lower level into a youth center, add program and classroom spaces and install a new ventilation system. Fundraising began in September.

“We are delighted with the response to our initial appeal and would like to extend our sincere thanks to Ellen, Dave and the members of the committee who have helped us achieve this important project milestone,” capital campaign chairman Chris Pesses said in a news release.

The celebration is open to the public and refreshments will be served.
