Johnstown store may open in April
JOHNSTOWN – The long-awaited T.J. Maxx department store at the Johnstown Shopping Center won’t open by Christmas, but may open in March, the center owner said.
Construction crews have been at the site of the 23,400-square-foot, single-story, steel-frame store next to Romana’s restaurant since July. But developer Michael Wachs, the shopping center owner, said Friday construction isn’t expected to be done until mid-February. He said about a month after that, the store may open.
Wachs’ company previously indicated to local officials the store might open by the holiday season.
The store was first announced by Wachs in January 2012. Based in Framingham, Mass., T.J. Maxx has about 1,000 locations nationwide and sells brand-name family apparel, accessories, shoes, gifts and jewelry at discount prices.
