Man accused of copper theft

NORTHAMPTON – A Broadalbin man was charged by Fulton County sheriff’s deputies Wednesday with stealing copper.

Deputies said Tyler A. Podrazik, 19, of 280 County Highway 110, Broadalbin, was charged with third-degree burglary, petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Deputies said he was charged at 1:40 a.m. at his residence after the burglary in Northampton.

Deputies said Podrazik broke into a building and stole copper wire and copper pipe.

He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to the county jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 property bond. He is scheduled to appear in court later.

Deputies said Podrazik also was injured in an accident at 11:48 a.m. Sunday on County Highway 110, north of Lakeview Road, in the town of Broadalbin. He was taken to St. Mary’s Healthcare by ambulance with unspecified injuries.

Deputies said he was traveling north on County Highway 110 and suddenly drove his car off the road into a ditch in front of his home. He told police he was trying to harm himself, deputies said.

For that incident, deputies said, Podrazik was issued tickets for unregistered motor vehicle, uninspected motor vehicle and another unspecified charge.
