FMCC women defeat Jefferson

WATERTOWN – Monae Abrams scored 25 points to lead the Fulton-Montgomery Community College women’s basketball team to a 95-84 win over Jefferson Community College in double overtime Sunday.

Trailing by six points with 1:04 to play, the Lady Raiders rallied to force overtime. Kassandra Flowers, who scored 13 of her 21 points in the first half, hit a 3-point from the corner just before the buzzer to tie the game at 74-74. After the teams finished the first overtime tied at 82-82, Abrams scored five points in the second overtime to lead FMCC to the win.

Stephanie Rice scored 15 points for FMCC, while Sherice Gayle finished with 14 points.

Alyssa Crosby led all scorers, finishing with 30 points for Jefferson (5-2 overall). Jasmine Canady scored 25 points for the Lady Cannoneers, while Amanda Roberts added 11.

FMCC (5-2 overall) will host Schenectady County Community College on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m.
