Deward ‘Dewey’ Kretser

Deward “Dewey” Kretser of Kennewick, Wash., the son of the late Frank and Lottie Kretser, our papa, dad, husband, brother and friend, had his amazing journey here on earth come to an end on Veterans Day, November 11, 2013, when he was called to play his guitar with the angels up in heaven.

Dewey grew up in Fort Plain, N.Y. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked for Hanford from 1953-1968. Dewey retired from Sandvik Special Metals in 1991. He was a member of the United Methodist Church for almost 60 years.

Dewey and Dottie made some wonderful, lasting friendships. After Dottie went tio heaven, he was blessed to be able to share the remainder of his journey with his “sweatheart” Marcella (Marcie) Kretser, whom he married in 2010.

Dewey was preceded in death by a son, Randy Allen Kretser; wife Dorothy (Dottie) Kretser; brothers, Melvin and Arnold; and sisters, Edith and Irene, along with his parents.

Dewey is survived by his sweetheart, Marcella (Marcie) Kretser; and twins, Cheryl Wistisen and her husband, Ron; Terica Keat and her husband, Rodney; and adopted daughter, Cindy Jimerson; also his brothers, Gary, Bill, Roger and Ralph; his sisters, Beverly and Geraldine. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends plus all of his extended family who readily adopted him as his own.

Dewey had a way of making anyone and everyone laugh. He could never tell just one joke. If you needed something, he was there.

Dewey enjoyed country music and playing his guitar with his friends.
