Police: Man robbed in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM – City police said officers are searching for the men involved in the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver on Monday.

The victim told officers he was attempting to deliver food on Lefferts Street when he was approached by at least four men, police said. Police said the delivery man told officers one man had a gun pointed at him, placed him in a chokehold and demanded his money. The victim told police he heard three other men speaking while he was in the chokehold.

Police said the delivery man gave the money to the man holding the weapon, who then struck the victim in the back of his head with the gun. The victim fell to the ground, police said, but saw one of the four men running south on Lefferts Street. The victim returned to his vehicle and notified authorities, police said.

The victim did not require medical attention, police said.

Police are investigating the incident, and ask anyone with information about the robbery to call the Police Department at 842-1100.
