Lucia J. ‘Lucy’ Izzano

Lucia J. “Lucy” Izzano, age 88, of Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Amsterdam, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 10, 1924, in Manhattan, a daughter of the late Frank Turrisi and Antonina Pagano Turrisi.

Lucy was a Class of 1943 graduate of Johnstown High School. She worked for many years in the needle trades with Gates Mills. Mrs. Izzano was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish and was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her favorite hobbies were cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include: her husband Vincent J. Izzano who she married on October 29, 1955; two daughters Roseann (Gerald) Fitzgerald of Northville and Christine Acosta of Ballston Lake; four grandchildren Michael (Susanne) Fitzgerald of Johnstown, Scott (Shannon) Fitzgerald of Northville, Meghan (Christian) Francis of Latham and Susan (Patrick) Little of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, and four great-grandchildren, Jack and Grace Fitzgerald and Christian and Lillian Francis.

She was predeceased by her first husband Lt. John Puglisi who died in combat on September 10, 1945, and two brothers, Lawrence Turrisi and Anthony Turrisi.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, at Trinity Church, Glebe Street, Johnstown.

Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, November 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St., Johnstown.

Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
