Susan St.Thomas, 61, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2013, at Albany Medical Center after a long illness. Susan was born July 13, 1952, in Gloversville, N.Y., to James William St. Thomas and the late Dolores Rose O’Connell. She grew up in Gloversville and attended the Gloversville school system and also St. Agnes School in Albany, N.Y.
Susan’s life experiences included living on an island off of Freeport, Maine, Montreal, Canada and Brattleboro, Vt. before returning to call Gloversville home. She had worked for St. Thomas Leather Goods, the family’s leather business for many years. Then she became a top sales representative for Mary Meyers in Vermont which at the time was one of the biggest U.S. manufacturers of stuffed bears. Susan was an avid lover of all animals and she gave refuge to many cats, dogs, bunnies and chickens during her short life. Her favorite passion was working in the soil in her famous ample vegetable gardens and growing flowers from seed.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Christine St. Thomas of Walpole, N.H.; and her three grandchildren, Donald William Harlow, Amber Lynn Harlow and Abby May Turner. Susan is also survived by her father, James William St. Thomas and stepmother, Mary Lou St. Thomas of St. Lucie West, Fla.; sister Nancy St. Thomas of Duxbury, Mass.; brother, William St. Thomas of Leon, Mexico; brother, Michael St. Thomas and Michele Plough, both residing in Florida.
