Bring PB&J to ‘A Place at the Table’
On Saturday, the local branch of the American Association of University Women and the Mohawk Harvest Cooperative Market will present the movie “A Place at the Table” at 2 p.m. at the Glove Performing?Arts Center. Admission will be free and the event will be open to the public.
We are collecting donations of peanut butter and/or jelly for our local food pantries.
Hunger is not an inner-city problem. There are families who face hunger in our own neighborhoods and rural communities. Hunger in America is a multi-faceted crisis and a threat to the nation’s public health. One in four children don’t know where their next meal is coming from. “A Place at the Table” tells the powerful stories of three such Americans who maintain their dignity even as they struggle just to eat.
Following the 90-minute movie, we will have available a pediatrician, Dr. Phillip James, and Crystal Stewart from Cornell Cooperative Extension and Elizabeth Blodgett, nutritional outreach coordinator for SNAP, for a short discussion.
