Mrs. Karen Platt, 65, of Gloversville, passed away at her home on Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2013.
Born on August 1, 1948, in Gloversville, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Isabel I. (Brockhum) Lobdell Sr.
She was a self-employed for several years performing private duty home care and housekeeping for many clients in the area.
Mrs. Platt was married to Delbert Platt and he passed away in 1998.
Karen enjoyed collecting dolls and also had a collection of M&M characters, but her greatest passion was her family. She was a proud grandmother and a beloved aunt. One of the things her nieces and nephews will remember was Aunt Karen’s candy dish and her ability to be a good listener to anyone who needed someone to talk to. She often showed her affection by making sure you were treated to a good meal and enjoyed conversing over a cup of coffee.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Lynn Marie Platt and a brother, Delbert Lobdell.
She is survived by a son, Robert Platt; granddaughter, Megan Platt; brothers, Robert and George Lobdell; sisters, Joyce Ross and Helen Nelson; her caregivers, Deb Loddell, Gina Pazzaglia, Joyce Ross, Lisa Pazzaglia and Poncho; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on today, November 13, 2013, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, with the Rev. Dr. R.W. William officiating.
