Ephratah proposal raises tax rate

EPHRATAH – Ephratah’s proposed 2014 budget calls for a tax-rate increase.

The budget totals roughly $1.37 million, compared to 2013’s $1.35 million.

The tax rate would go up by 65 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.

Next year’s tax rate would be $14.81 per $1,000 of assessed value. This year, the rate is $14.16 per $1,000.

The budget shows increases to employee benefits, going from $108,000 in 2013 to $122,000 in 2014.
