Bannertown seniors report on meeting
MAYFIELD – The Bannertown 50 Plus Club recently had a social hour before President Carl Edwards read “Beneath the Touch for a Helping Hand” followed by “The Lord’s Prayer.” The Office for the Aging luncheon was served.
Edwards opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. The roll was done by Nancy Hayes, in the absence of Vice President Linda LaVada. The treasurer’s report was accepted as read. Sherin Akey, sunshine chairman, sent a get-well card to Jane Bonfey.
Rick Argotsinger, town supervisor, discussed the county and town tax base for the upcoming year. Vince Colletti discussed his ideas as town councilman and what he has accomplished.
Nila Edwards has a signup sheet for those who will be attending the Dec. 5 Christmas party at the Partner’s Pub. Instead of a grab bag, the club decided to bring food for the food pantry at the Dec. 11 meeting. The $50 donations will be sent to the Mayfield Presbyterian Church Food Pantry for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Akey noted that there is a need for cereal, tuna fish, peanut butter and jelly. Also a $25 donation will be sent to Assemblyman Marc Butler for the Trees for Troops program.
Through Sunday at 1 p.m. there will be a health and wellness event at the Shirley J. Luck Senior Citizens Center.
Carl Edwards reminded members about the Thursday, $3 movie, sponsored by the Johnstown 50 Plus Club, at the Johnstown Movie Plex.
On Dec. 11, there will be a speaker from the school board in regards to the upcoming vote for the merger with Northville schools.
The meeting was closed and drawings were held. The winners were: Carl Edwards, the door prize and 50-50 and he donated it back to the treasury; Akey, $1. A Halloween party with cider and doughnuts took place. The costume winners were: Pat Ryfa, ugliest; Pat Ford, most original; Joan Himes, cutest; and prizes were given.
