Police: Father, sons in 30 burglary cases
GLEN – Police this morning said they’ve arrested a man and two of his sons who are responsible for about 30 burglaries in Montgomery, Otsego, Herkimer and Schoharie counties.
John D. Mickels, 56, of 1407 Logtown Road, Sprakers and his sons, Jonathan E. Mickels, 29, of Bellinger Road, Middleburgh, and Joshua D. Mickels, 32, 44 Main St., Fort Plain, each are facing a single count of burglary and grand larceny, according to a news release issued jointly this morning by the Montgomery and Otsego County sheriff’s departments and state police.
Police said more arrests are likely as the investigation continues.
The release did not indicate when the men were arrested. Undersheriff Jeffery Smith, who sent the release, declined comment before the release was issued and could not be reached for comment later this morning.
Police said they recovered rifles, shotguns, a wood splitter, jewelry, a chainsaw, crystal, change and a bow with arrows.
