Huskies defeat Ravena

GLOVERSVILLE – Jenna Putnam had 15 assists, three kills and one block to lead third-seeded Gloversville to a 3-0 sweep of sixth-seeded Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk in a Section II B volleyball quarterfinal contest Friday at Gloversville High School.

The Huskies won by scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-18.

Katlyn Pierce posted nine kills, two aces and two blocks for Gloversville, while Ana Kroup posted 10 kills. Christina Pavlovsky registered seven assists for the Huskies, and Chelsey Biasini added four kills.

Bailey Cross had 12 digs and eight kills for Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, while Makayla Shear added 18 assists.

Gloversville (15-4 overall) will face seventh-seeded Hudson Falls in the semifinals Wednesday at Ballston Spa High School at 7 p.m.

The Tigers upset No. 2 Schalmont in Friday’s quarterfinals, 3-0, winning by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-12.

Gloversville won both regular-season meeting with the Tigers in five sets.
