H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Mayfield sweeps past Fort Plain

MAYFIELD – Mackenzie Biggers had 15 assists, nine service points and two aces, leading Mayfield to a 3-0 sweep of Fort Plain in a Western Athletic Conference volleyball contest Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers won by scores of 25-20, 29-27 and 25-6.

Jordan Marshall posted 10 service points, five assists, four kills and four aces for Mayfield (11-3 overall, 11-2 WAC), while Kaylee Bumpus had 10 kills. Ashley Madeiros finished with six service points and three assists for the Lady Panthers, Miranda Eagan had nine kills, eight points, six assists and two aces, and Alex Sheldon added three digs and two points.

Emily Potter had 11 digs and seven kills for Fort Plain (9-5 overall, 8-5 WAC), while Alexis Hagadorn finished with nine points and four kills. Brandy Walters recorded six assists and two kills for the Lady Hilltoppers, Cheyann Walters had five kills, five points and three digs, and Anganese Gomez posted nine points and two aces. Shawna Cotton had eight assists and four digs for Fort Plain, and Desiree Suits added five digs.

On Friday, Mayfield defeated Middleburgh, winning by scores of 25-18 25-16 and 25-16.

Duanesburg 3, Canajoharie 2

DUANESBURG – Rachel Gamache posted 26 kills and 14 service points, lifting Duanesburg past Canajoharie.

The Eagles won by scores of 19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-16.

Taylor Martinez had 27 assists for Duanesburg (8-6 WAC), while Tori Dykstra had 21 digs.

Emma Stortecky finished with 15 service points, nine assists and four aces for Canajoharie (11-3 overall, 11-3 WAC), while Shyanna Logan had 12 service points. Abbey Dearwester added 10 kills and five assists for the Lady Cougars.

Galway 3, Saratoga Catholic 0

GALWAY – Adrianna Watrobski finished with 13 service points, 12 assists, three aces and two kills, lifting Galway to a victory over Saratoga Central Catholic.

The Golden Eagles won by scores of 25-6, 25-14 and 25-12.

Rachel Jones posted 11 points, five kills, four aces and two blocks for the Galway (15-0 overall, 14-0 WAC), while Emily Zawisa added eight kills, six service points, five aces and two blocks.

Emily Miller had five service points and three assists for Saratoga Catholic (4-9 WAC), while Liza Orsini had six digs. Chloe Ethier added two blocks for the Lady Saints.

Schoharie 3, Berne-Knox-Westerlo 0

SCHOHARIE – Angela Simone finished with six kills, leading Schoharie to a sweep of Berne-Knox-Westerlo.

The Indians won by scores of 25-9, 26-24 and 25-20.

Gabrielle Danthine posted 11 service points and four kills for Schoharie (9-8 overall, 9-6 WAC), while Rebecca Stevens added 10 service points.

Mekeel Christian 3, Middleburgh 1

SCOTIA – Victoria Alteri finished with 19 service points, four aces, four kills and three assists, powering Mekeel Christian Academy to a win over Middleburgh.

The Lady Lions won by scores of 19-25, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-28.

Clare Nelson posted 10 service points, four aces and two kills for Mekeel Christian (2-12 WAC), while Jordan Spawn had 12 service points and two aces. Mackenzie Islip added seven service points, four assists and three aces for the Lady Lions.

Middleburgh slipped to 1-13 in WAC play with the loss.

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Albany Academy 0

ALBANY – Miranda Nethaway finished with seven kills, six points and three aces to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a sweep of Albany Academy for Girls.

The Lady Braves won by scores of 25-16, 25-10 and 25-12.

Cory Lais posted nine points and six aces for Fonda-Fultonville, while Gianna Cruz finished with seven service points.

Non-league

New Lebanon 3, Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 0

NEW LEBANON – Brianna Springstead finished with 17 service points and 12 aces, leading New Lebanon to a sweep of Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

The Tigers won by scores of 25-10, 25-21 and 25-18.

Khalan Fish posted five kills for New Lebanon.

Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville slipped to 3-10 overall with the loss.
