Lady Sea Dragons swim past Johnstown

GLOVERSVILLE – The Johnstown girls swim team won eight out of 12 events in Thursday’s Foothills Council swim meet; however, the depth of the Gloversville-Mayfield roster proved to be the critical element.

The Lady Sea Dragons filled the events and pulled out a 97-77 victory over Johnstown Thursday at the Gloversville Middle School pool.

Erica Wagner and Erica Askew picked up two individual victories apiece for Johnstown, while Cecelia Mowrey and Emily Miles also picked up individual wins.

Wagner won the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, while Askew touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard breaststroke. Mowrey was first in the 500-yard freestyle, and Miles won the 100-yard freestyle.

Picking up individual victories for the Lady Sea Dragons were Sara Curtis, Sam McGillis and Desiree Ives.

Curtis won the 50-yard freestyle, while Ives touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke. McGillis took home top honors in the 1-meter diving.
