Valerie Anne Fosmire, daughter of Ellie and Clayton Fosmire of Ephratah, was united in marriage to Staff Sgt. Derrick Richard Sherwood, son of Rick and Carol Sherwood of Weedsport, Cayuga County, on June 22 at MKJ Farm in Deansboro, N.Y.
The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was Amanda Corbett, sister of the bride, of Waltham, Mass. The maid of honor was Joli Dalmata of Massena, N.Y. The bridal attendants were Katie Christman of Ephratah, Amanda Sweet of Gloversville and Rachael Sherwood, sister of the groom, of Weedsport.
The best man was Curtis Sherwood, brother of the groom, of Weedsport. Ushers were Paul Nicolucci of Burlington, N.C., Brian Jayne of Weedsport, and Gypsy Towsley of Oswego.
Flower girls were Isabell Ropeter of Ephratah and Lilliana Cooper of Gloversville.
The ringbearer was Emmitt Alexander Fosmire of Gloversville.
The bridal party and guests wore western attire at the country- themed wedding and reception, which was attended by 150 guests, some from as far away as California, Florida and North Carolina.
Fosmire, a 2004 graduate of Johnstown High School, received an associate degree from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in 2005 and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY?Oswego in 2007. She is a registered nurse working at Crestview Rehabilitation Center in Florida.
Sherwood is a 2004 graduate of Weedsport High School and a 2008 graduate of SUNY Oswego with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He joined the U.S. Air Force in November 2008 and is stationed at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
