Jacqueline Severinghaus

Jacqueline (Jacky) DeGraff Severinghaus, 83 of Lakeside Avenue, Edinburg, New York, passed from this world on October 3, 2013. She was born on September 27, 1930, in Amsterdam, New York, the daughter of the late Lee S. DeGraff and Grace DeGraff. Jacky grew up in Fort Johnson, New York.

She graduated from Wilbur H. Lynch High School, Class of 1948, Amsterdam, Mildred Elley School for Girls, Albany 1949, and Empire State College, BPS Degree 1977. She was legal secretary to various local attorneys for eight years and 20 years with the office of William J. Stewart as Estate Administrator.

She was the former Deputy Clerk of Montgomery County Children’s Court (1954-1958), and Village Treasurer, Village of Forth Johnson (1959-1962). She was a member of the Voorheesville Methodist Church and former member of the Administrative Board as well as Administrative Board of the former Grace Methodist Church of Fort Johnson.

In 1989, she started a business, Designs from Nature, and participated in craft shows throughout New York state until 2007. Her business remained opened from her studio until 2013.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, C.W. Severinghaus; daughter, Kim, and son, Randall Czerwiec, and brother, Lee W. DeGraff.

Survivors are her son Mark Czerwiec and his wife, Susan, of Humble, Texas; nephew Lee S. DeGraff and his wife Gail, of Ballston Lake, New York; niece Christie L. DeGraff, nephew-in-law Davis Austin, stepchildren William Severinghaus, Charles L. Severinghaus, Jane Haff and families.

She was a loving wife, mother and aunt to her family and a very special friend to all that knew her.
