Queensbury cruises to win over Dragons
GLOVERSVILLE – A four-goal first half powered Queensbury to a 4-0 win over Gloversville in a Foothills Council boys soccer contest Thursday at Gloversville High School.
Cole Crotty and Liam Mulshine each had a goal and an assist for the Spartans. Christopher Goodemote and Eddie Gardner also scored for Queensbury (11-1 overall, 9-1 Foothills).
Crotty opened the scoring for the Spartans on an assist from Mulshine with 30:51 remaining in the first half.
Goodemote made it 2-0 with 22:08 to play in the first half on a double assist from Jayson Mullen and Jimmy Doty.
Queensbury, which has won six straight games, doubled its lead in the final three minutes of the first half.
An unassisted goal by Gardner made the score 3-0 before Mulshine scored on a Crotty assist with 31.5 seconds remaining to cap the first-half scoring.
The Spartans outshot the Dragons 12-1 in the opening half and 19-4 in the match.
In the second half, neither team found the back of the net.
Queensbury had several chances, including one from Mulshine that hit the right post.
Tyler Raymond notched one save in net for Queensbury, while Kyle Royal made nine saves for Gloversville.
Gloversville slipped to 2-8 overall and 2-7 in Foothills Council play with the loss, which was its sixth straight.
The Dragons are scheduled to travel to Amsterdam on Saturday for a 6 p.m. contest on the turf at Lynch Literacy Academy.
Queensbury is scheduled to host Scotia-Glenville on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
