H.S. Golf Roundup: Area golfers qualify for ABCD tourney

BALLSTON SPA – Broadalbin-Perth’s Alex Bond and Brett Getman each shot 79 to tie for second at the Section II Class B golf tournament at Ballston Spa Country Club on Wednesday.

Gloversville’s Josh Fonda and Johnstown’s Chris Geleta each shot 80 to tie for fifth.

All four golfers advance to Tuesday’s ABCD Qualifier at Orchard Creek.

Glens Falls’ Alex Gibson posted the low round of the day, finishing with a 76.

Also qualifying for the ABCD tourney were Cobleskill-Richmondville’s Connor McCarthy (79), Hudson Falls’ Wyatt Gorham (80) and Scotia-Glenville’s David Renko (81).

Scotia-Glenville won the team title with a total of 335, while Glens Falls (363) was second and Johnstown (373) was third.

Class C-D Tournament

BALLSTON SPA – Northville’s Jordon Fordyce posted the low round of the day to win the individual title at the Section II Class C-D Tournament on Wednesday at Ballston Spa Country Club.

Fordyce finished with a 78 to finish four strokes ahead of Hoosick Falls’ Eric Bloomer and Saratoga Catholic’s Dylan Seeber who finished tied for second with rounds of 82.

All three qualified for Tuesday’s Class ABCD qualifier at Orchard Creek.

Also qualifying were Greenville’s Brenner Bachman (83), Mechanicville’s Nico Dumas (84), Saratoga Catholic’s Drew Welcome (84), Hoosic Valley’s Matt Espey (85), Hoosic Valley’s Dan McLaughlin (85), Taconic Hills’ Gavin Stosiek (85) and Tamarac’s Anthony Giamei (85).

Saratoga Catholic won the team title with a total of 367.
