Boys Soccer Roundup: Briggs’ hat trick leads Panthers to win

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Todd Briggs finished with three goals, leading Mayfield to a 4-2 win over Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville in a Western Athletic Conference boys soccer contest Wednesday.

Riley Yager also scored for the Panthers, while Jack Albertin had three assists. Josh Ivancic added an assist for Mayfield (6-4-1 overall, 6-4-1 WAC).

Johnny Vicciarelli finished with a goal and an assist for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville (5-4-1 overall, 5-4-1 WAC), while Dylan Klock also scored.

Tristan Engle added an assist for the Wolves.

Lucas VanNostrand made five saves for Mayfield, while Nate Trumbull had eight stops for Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville.

Northville 4, Canajoharie 0

NORTHVILLE – After a scoreless first half, Northville found the back of the net four times in the second half in a shutout win over Canajoharie.

Will Wilson, Jacob Junquera, Randy King and Brandon Blowers all scored for the Falcons, while Kalob Russell had two assists. Wolfgang Reinke added an assist for Northville, which outshot Canajoharie 13-5.

Tim Monette made four saves to post the shutout win in goal for the Falcons (9-0-2 overall, 9-0-2 WAC). It was the seventh shutout of the season for Northville.

Jacob St. Martin made eight stops for Canajoharie (2-8 overall, 2-8 WAC).

Fort Plain 5, Galway 2

FORT PLAIN – Aiden VanLoan scored three goals, leading Fort Plain to a win over Galway.

Kiernan Briggs and Michael Thomas also scored for the Hilltoppers (3-7 overall, 3-7 WAC).

Zack Hartman and Austin Scheeren scored for Galway (2-7 overall, 2-7 WAC).

Berne-Knox-Westerlo 1, Schoharie 0

SCHOHARIE – Nick Nagengast scored the game’s lone goal to lead Berne-Knox-Westerlo to a win over Schoharie.

Trevor Haack made two saves to post the shutout win in goal for the Bulldogs.

Justin Montione had six saves for Schoharie.

Northern Soccer League

Schroon Lake 4, Wells 2

SCHROON LAKE – Justin Lough finished with two goals and an assist to help Schroon Lake hand Wells its first loss of the season.

Branden Hall and Alex Shaughnessy each had a goal and an assist for Schroon Lake (8-1 overall, 8-1 NSL), which led 4-0 before Wells got on the board.

Matt Michienzi and Kenny Chicoski scored for Wells (7-1 overall, 7-1 NSL), while Adrian Collado had an assist.

Caleb Maisonville finished with nine saves for Schroon Lake, while Ben Brenan had eight stops for Wells.
