Man faces 15 counts of petit larceny
AMSTERDAM – An Amsterdam man was arrested Friday for committing numerous larcenies over five months, Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies said.
Joseph Chirico, 40, of 363 Smith Road, was charged with 15 counts of petit larceny and 10 counts of criminal trespass.
Deputies said Chirico’s arrest warrants were issued after law enforcement received several complaints from the Amsterdam Price Chopper, where Chirico is alleged to have stolen several items over the span of five months.
Chirico was found after investigators were able to ping his cell phone, deputies said, which gave the location of where he was staying. Upon arrival to 363 Smith Road, deputies said the car there matched the description of one used in the larcenies. Chirico then surrendered to authorities, deputies said.
Located inside the residence was Christopher Clark, deputies said, a known associate of Chirico. Clark was wanted on active warrants in the Gloversville.
Clark was turned over to Gloversville Police Department, while Chirico was arraigned.
Chirico was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail.
