Pat “Pasquale” Derrico
Pat “Pasquale” Derrico, age 69, of Gloversville, N.Y., a lifelong resident, passed away on the evening of Friday, September 27, 2013, at the Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, N.Y., with his beloved daughter and brother with him after a long and courageous struggle with heart and lung diseases. He was born on April 13, 1944, in Gloversville, the son of the late Pasquale and Jennie Ottuso Derrico. Pat was employed at the former Loblaws supermarket where he was the dairy manager and was last employed at MCA Records of Gloversville. He was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Pat supported local arts and sports and coached American Legion Baseball and led the Wood and Hyde team of Gloversville to a championship. He was educated at the former St. Francis De Sales Catholic School and was a 1963 graduate of Gloversville High School and was in charge of its reunions. Pat was a proud supporter of Gloversville and always recounted stories of the city especially his time growing up on Mohawk Place.
He leaves his cherished friends of Rob and Crystals Restaurant in Gloversville, who gave him special love and companionship in his final years. Pat wanted his Aunt Tina (Ottuso) Fox to be especially mentioned for her never ending care his entire life and through his difficult years; and Nancy Ackernut, friend and companion. He is survived by his daughter, Maria Lynn Mangini and her husband, Brian of Clarksville, N.Y. and their two children, Luciana and Jeremiah. He is also survived by his brother, Vito Derrico and his wife, Marjorie and their two children, Mark and Sandra; cousins, aunts and uncles. Pat was predeceased by his wife, the former Sharon Baker. She died in 1994 and they were married in 1967. He was also predeceased by his brother, Mark Derrico.
The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday, October 2, at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville NY from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A prayer service will be conducted 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit.
