Mayfield sweeps BKW in WAC

MAYFIELD – The Mayfield Lady Panthers improved their Western Athletic Conference volleyball record to 8-1 and 8-2 overall with a sweep of Berne-Knox-Westerlo Friday afternoon at Mayfield High School.

Mayfield posted the 3-0 victory with game scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-20.

Kiera Davis had seven points, two aces and three kills for Mayfield, while Alex Sheldon had four points, four digs and a kill. Ashley Maderios contributed six points, three aces, three digs and three assists, Miranda Eagan had seven assists and four kills, while Maryssa Dufel had 100 percent service and a kill and Bri Eagan contributed strong defensive play, two kills and four digs.

Shannon Stone recorded nine kills and three digs for BKW (4-6 WAC, 4-7 overall). Kathryn Salo had four aces, two kills, eight digs and two blocks and Michaela Horlacher had 14 assists.

The Lady Panthers will participate in the Schalmont Tournament today at Schalmont High School.

Galway 3, Canajoharie 0

GALWAY – The unbeaten Golden Eagles (8-0 WAC, 9-0 overall) swept to the WAC victory on game scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-17.

Adriana Watrobski had nine points, three aces, seven kills and six assists for Galway, while Rachel Jones had nine points, three aces, six kills, two blocks, two digs and an assist. Brittany Orminski added seven kills and a block, while Emily Zawisa had five kills, six digs, two points and a block and Rachel Sherman had 16 points, four aces, two assists and a kill and Emily Orminski added 10 points, four aces, 15 assists and a kill.

Canajoharie (8-2 WAC) was led by Shyanna Logan with nine points and five kills, while Shelby Mead added five kills and five blocks and Grace Adams had seven points and two aces.

Oppenheim-Ephratah 3, Middleburgh 0

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Kyleigh Hayner recorded four kills, three digs and two aces to lead the Lady Wolves to a sweep on game scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-19.

Katie Pabis recorded three kills, two aces and a digs, while Shamrin Flanders had four kills, an ace and a dig and Shelbey McCumber had six assists, four digs and four aces.

Colonial Council

Fonda-Fultonville 3, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk 1

FONDA – The Lady Braves improved to 8-2 overall and in the Colonial Council with game scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-17 and 25-17.

Miranda Nethaway paced the Lady Braves with 10 kills, 10 points, seven aces and four blocks, while Cory Lais had five kills, five points and two aces. Shawna Trigg added 13 service points for Fonda-Fultonville.

Ravena fell to 7-3 overall.
