Shirley Lopuch, age 91, of Tribes Hill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotia.
Born on December 7, 1921, in Gloversville, she was a daughter of the late William and Bertha Palmer Place.
She worked for many years as a glove maker, employed by several local glove manufacturing companies. Shirley was a voracious reader and performed duets with her sister, Dorothy in the local musical group, Pals of the Saddle.
She was united in marriage to Joseph Lopuch, who passed away in 2001 after over 59 years of marriage.
Survivors include three nieces, Sandra (Sonny) Pettit, Joan (Tom) Giberson and Norma (Robert) String; four nephews, James (Lynda) Place, David Place, Richard (Linda) Lewis and Paul (Sally) Lewis.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one brother, Russell Place; two sisters, Margaret Lewis and Dorothy Leavitt; and one niece, Joyce Goodbread.
In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Memorial contributions may be in Shirley’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, New York.
