Field Hockey Roundup: JHS downs Glens Falls

QUEENSBURY – Hope Cerasuolo scored three goals, leading Johnstown to a 5-1 win over Glens Falls in a Foothills Council field hockey contest Tuesday.

Hayley Coons opened the scoring, giving Glens Falls a 1-0 lead with 25:52 left in the first half.

Cerasuolo evened the score at 1-1 with an unassisted goal with 13:37 remaining in the opening half.

In the second half, Cerasuolo and Nicole Bentley each scored two goals to lift the Lady Bills to the win.

Mikaela Etherton and Kelsi Barnholt each had second half assists for Johnstown (5-1 overall, 3-0?Foothills), which outshot Glens Falls 41-6 and finished with an 18-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Kristin Wright made three saves for the Lady Bills, while Hayley Mello had 28 saves for Glens Falls.

Johnstown is slated to host South?Glens Falls next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Gloversville 3, Hudson Falls 0

HUDSON FALLS – Kacie Handy scored two goals to lead Gloversville to a Foothills Council win over Hudson Falls.

It was the first victory of the season for the Huskies.

Janelle Nellis also scored for Gloversville, while Whytne Stover finished with two assists.

Bailey Pieniazek made eight saves to post the shutout win in goal for the Huskies (1-5 overall, 1-2 Foothills).

Nicole Wojtowecz made 18 saves for Hudson Falls.

Queensbury 1, Scotia-Glenville 0

QUEENSBURY – Katie Zilka scored the game’s only goal to lift Queensbury to a Foothills Council win over Scotia-Glenville. Christie Raymond had an assist for the Spartans (2-2 overall, 2-2 Foothills).

Christina Galatioto and Lauren DeLor combined to make two saves for Queensbury, while Naudia Smith made 14 stops for Scotia-Glenville (0-4 overall, 0-4 Foothills).
