H.S. Volleyball Roundup: Lady Braves sweep Cohoes

FONDA – Kerrigan McCaslin finished with 18 service points and five aces to lead Fonda-Fultonville to a 3-0 sweep of Cohoes in a Colonial Council volleyball match Monday.

The Lady Braves won by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-9.

Gianna Mancini had seven service points, three aces and two kills for Fonda-Fultonville (4-1 overall, 4-1 Colonial).

The Lady Braves are slated to travel to Lansingburgh on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. contest.

Big 10

Schenectady 3, Amsterdam 1

AMSTERDAM – Kristen St. Andrews finished with 16 service points and seven aces, leading Schenectady to a win over Amsterdam.

The Lady Patriots won 25-22, 25-13, 22-25 and 25-21.

Tammara Brandon posted nine points and seven aces for Schenectady (4-0 overall), while Tanaia Bradley had eight points and three aces. Brielle Lazzari added six kills for the Lady Patriots.

Cassidy Arocho led Amsterdam with seven assists, six aces and five kills, while Brittanie Brown posted five assists and three aces. Destinee Smith registered three aces and three kills for the Lady Rams, while Gabby Catena posted four kills and two aces.

Amsterdam (0-3 overall, 0-2 Big 10) will host Troy today at 6 p.m.


Middleburgh 3, Mekeel Christian 1

MIDDLEBURGH – Jacqueline Cummings finished with 10 service points and two kills to lead Mekeel Christian Academy to a win over Middleburgh.

The Lions won 25-19, 23-25, 25-20 and 25-15.

Mackenzie Islip had 18 service points and four aces for Mekeel Christian.

Jenna Brown had nine kills, six aces and five blocks for Middleburgh, while Kayla Garen had six aces and five kills.
