Spa Catholic holds off Fort Plain, 3-2

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Fort Plain and Saratoga Catholic Central went the distance to determine a winner in Thursday’s Western Athletic Conference volleyball match.

Spa Catholic outlasted the Lady Hilltoppers on scores of 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 9-25 and 25-19 to claim the 3-2 victory.

Elle Valentine finished with 16 service points, two aces and six assists for the Lady Saints (2-1 overall, 2-1 WAC). Liza Orsini had 11 service points, six aces and 2 kills and turned in a strong defensive game, while Kiera Taylor had 11 service points and six blocks.

Emily Potter led Fort Plain (1-2 overall, 1-2 WAC) with 14 kills, while Cheyana Walters recorded five kills and two aces. Brandy Walters had three kills and six assists and Shawna Cotton contributed 16 assists.

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Brittany Orminski had seven kills, 11 digs and three aces to lead Galway to victory on game scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-16.

Adrianna Watrobski contributed four digs, two aces, five kills and five assists for the Golden Eagles, while Rachel Jones added six digs, five kills and two blocks.

Grace Yezierski led OESJ with four aces, two kills and five digs, while Shelbey McCumber had four assists, an ace and a dig, Samantha Lamphere had two kills, two aces and three digs and Katie Pabis added four digs, a kill and an ace.

SCHENECTADY – Emily Brown recorded 25 assists and 13 service points to lead NDBG to the Big 10 win on game scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-20.

Paris Jarrell added seven kills and two blocks, while Annie Riley had seven kills and Sarah DelVecchio added six kills.

Amsterdam was led by Cassidy Arocho’s three kills, three assists and an ace, while Yarinez Diaz had four digs and Destinee Smith recorded two kills.
