Canajoharie tops Warrensburg in OT

WARRENSBURG – Dillan Veeder caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jace Fox in overtime, lifting Canajoharie to a 20-14 win over Warrensburg on Saturday.

Veeder also scored on a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter to tie the game with 6:24 remaining.

Fox finished 6-for-12 for 82 yards with all six passes going to Veeder for 82 yards and a score. Veeder also led the Cougars with 78 yards on three carries.

Tyler Belmonte sacked Warrensburg quarterback Marcus Perrone on fourth-and-1 in overtime, setting up Veeder’s game-winning score.

Zach Folts also scored for the Cougars (1-0 overall), finding the end zone on a 2-yard run in the first quarter.

Malachi Prosser scored both touchdowns for Warrensburg (0-1 overall), scoring on runs of 2 and 7 yards.

Robert Clothier had 40 yards on eight carries for Canajoharie, while Kenny Holland had a fumble recovery.

Conner Scott led Warrensburg’s rushing attack with 88 yards on 22 carries, while Prosser had 82 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

Canajoharie will host Whitehall on Friday in its home opener at 7 p.m.
