Girls Soccer Roundup: GHS, JHS, B-P score Foothills wins

HUDSON FALLS – The Gloversville girls soccer team opened its season with a strong performance with a 10-0 Foothills council victory over Hudson Falls.

Chanel Thomas and Amanda Bakyta connected for two goals apiece for the Lady Dragons, while Emma Botch, Emily Ross, Madison Fancher, Hannah Gillis, Katie Hauser and Alex Blanchard had one apiece.

Caroline Bakyta picked up three assists in the game, while Amanda Bakyta and Botch had two assists and Allison Hanmer and Gillis had one assist each.

For the match, Gloversville outshot Hudson Falls 29-2.

Johnstown 8, Glens Falls 3

GLENS FALLS – Morganne Dick connected for four goals to lead the Lady Bills to the league victory.

Kendra McCoy had a goal and two assists for Johnstown, while Morgan Anagnostopulos, Ciara Solby and Mallory Baldwin added goals and Reily Kotwasinski had an assist.

Lucy Tougas had two goals four Glens Falls and Sophie Tougas had one.

Johnstown goalkeeper Briana Esposito notched 16 saves in net, while Kady Bates had 13 for Glens Falls.

Johnstown held a 2-1 halftime lead and outscored the Lady Indians 6-2 in the second half to secure the victory.

Broadalbin-Perth 1, South Glens Falls 0

SOUTH GLENS FALLS – The Lady Patriots received a first-half goal from Katie Herba and make it stand up to get the Foothills Council win.

Kelly Makarowski assisted on Herba’s goal and Rachel Orapello made 13 saves in goal for B-P.

South High’s Elyse Green collected six saves in net.

Colonial Council

Cobleskill-Richmondville 13, Fonda-Fultonville 0

COBLESKILL – Morgan Loder netted seven goals and assisted on two more to lead the Bulldogs to the league victory.

MaryAnna Tryon scored twice, while Kate Billington, Emily Stewart, Dani Rappleyea and Maya Nicholas had one apiece.

Ashley Hulber and Alexis Halpin split goalkeeping duties for Fonda-Fultonville combining to make 24 stops.
