Richard F. Nare
Richard F. Nare, 80, of Fonda, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Amsterdam, N.Y. He was born at home in Fonda, N.Y., on November 14, 1932, the son of the late Floyd R. and Ruth Henry Nare.
Richard was a lifetime resident of the area and graduated as salutatorian of his class at Fonda High School. He was a self-employed dairy farmer at Nare Farms his entire life, only recently retiring in the past few years. Richard was a member of the Farm Bureau and past advisory member with the Farm Credit Banks. He was also a board member at the Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda. He proudly donated fifty pints of blood to the American Red Cross, was a 65-year member of the Fonda Reformed Church and served on the Consistory proudly for many years. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.
His loving family includes his wife, Margaret “Peg” Bannan Nare, whom he wed on August 24, 1985; children, Gloria Bruno (Anthony), Gary Nare, John Nare (Lorna), Tom Nare, Bill Nare (Linda), Dennis “Hank” Nare (Terri), Barb Smith, all of Fonda and Sharon Carpenter (Andy) of Fort Hunter; stepchildren, Richard Krohn (Gretchen), Mary Keegan (Michael), Michelle Egelston (John) and Jacqueline Morris (Bill); beloved grandchildren, John, Matthew, Joshua, Mark, Isaiah (Haley), Cara (Jeff), Jeremiah (Jennette), Hannah, Luke, Kyle, Carolyn, Michael, Dean, Megan, Erica, Vanessa (Matthew), Katherine, John, Ryan, Audrey, Grant, Paula, Madeline, Tillie, Mary and Billy along with a great-grandson, Ethan. He is also survived by his siblings, Howard Nare (Elizabeth) of Stone Arabia, Eileen Kruger, Margaret Post (John) and Lois Oare (Howard) all of Fonda along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was predeceased by his former wife, Carolyn Bobilin; they shared a beautiful union of 26 years.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, August 31, 2013, from 10 a.m. until noon at the Fonda Reformed Church, Broadway in Fonda. A funeral service will take place immediately following at noon, the Rev. Jennifer Yeske will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fonda Reformed Church, Town of Mohawk Fire Dept. or to the Evergreen Cemetery.
