Police: Impaired man caused 3 accidents
GLOVERSVILLE-A city man was arrested over the weekend after he caused three separate accidents while driving with his ability impaired by drugs, police said.
Steven J. Ridgeon, 55, of 1 Spring St., was arrested by city police Saturday and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, leaving the scene of an accident and unlawful possession of marijuana.
He also was charged with unsafe backing and failure to maintain designated lane, police said.
Police said Ridgeon was arrested for DWAI following a report of multiple motor vehicle accidents. Police said he backed into a vehicle in front of 69 W. Fulton St., proceeded to leave the scene and struck a utility pole in front of 6 Washington St.
He fled that scene and drove eastbound on Washington Street, police said, where he failed to navigate a left turn onto Wells Street and struck the rear of another vehicle.
Ridgeon was found to be under the influence of several prescription medications. A search revealed a small bag of marijuana, police said.
He was released on uniform traffic tickets returnable in City Court.
