Colonials score playoff victory
JOHNSTOWN – The Glove Cities Colonials are moving on.
The second-seeded Colonials downed the Oneonta Stallions 40-16 Saturday night at Knox Field to advance in the Northeastern Football Alliance playoffs.
Glove Cities (8-3) will have two weeks to prepare for the Sept. 7 rematch with the top-seeded Fighting Irish of Troy, who had a first-round bye, at Schenectady High School. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
Colonials’ quarterback Salih Banks threw for two touchdowns and ran for one in the victory. Banks was 9-for-19 through the air while running for 97 yards.
Josh Mason caught three passes, two for touchdowns, for 150 yards, while Ace Barnhill pulled in four catches for 117 yards and Mark Thomas rushed for 85 yards.
Glove Cities intercepted three passes, one each by Andre Bowes, Hasan Welch and Gary O’Neal. Bowes returned his for a touchdown. Dustin Jewitt had a fumble recovery.
