Police make drug arrests in Gloversville

GLOVERSVILLE – The city Police Department arrested people for drug-related offenses throughout the city early today, Police Chief Donald VanDeusen said.

Police provided little information about the raids and arrests this morning.

“All we are going to release at this point, because it is still a [continuing] operation, is that we have executed multiple arrest warrants and search warrants related to drugs this morning and we are continuing,” VanDeusen said around 9:15 a.m.

He said the department would release more information, including names and what has been seized, once the evidence and people arrested have been processed.

Some of the police activity reported by residents this morning was on Steele Avenue, North Main Street near the intersection with Eighth Avenue, and on Chestnut Street.

The city has had other major drug busts in recent years. In March 2011, police seized 720 marijuana plants from a Division Street home. In September 2009, 10 suspects were rounded up in a citywide drug raid.
