Apple program today at Old Fort

FORT?JOHNSON – The final Evening at the Old Fort program, “Growing Heirloom Apples,” will be held today at 6:30 p.m. at Old Fort Johnson National Historic Landmark.

Admission will be $2 per person and members of the Montgomery County Historical Society can attend the program for free.

L.D. Douglas Davidson will present a program on his heirloom apple orchard and other facts about heirloom apples in New York state, a news release said.

At Old Fort Johnson – located at the corner of Routes 5 and 67 in the village – seven heirloom apple trees have been planted to recreate an orchard shown in a 1759 sketch of the Old Fort and surrounding grounds, the release said.
